Bell 429 Receives FAA and Transport Canada Certification

After protracted delays, Bell’s Model 429 light twin helicopter has received type approval from U.S. and Canadian regulatory agencies. With letters of intent for more than 300 Model 429s, Bell expects to begin deliveries next month. Powered by a pair of Pratt & Whitney Canada PW207DI turboshaft engines, the Bell 429 is priced at $4.87 million. Planned applications include EMS, law enforcement and executive roles. A version with retractable wheeled landing gear is anticipated, perhaps as soon as next year. As certified, the Bell 429 lists a range of 368 nautical miles and a top speed of 150 knots.
