New Hartzell Prop Boosts Performance in Popular Caravan

Developers working on STC for Cessna Supervan 900 upgrade.

An upgraded propeller developed by Hartzell and airplane modifier Texas Turbine Conversions will soon be available for the single-engine Cessna Supervan 900.

The four-blade composite swept propeller, when coupled with an upgraded 900 shp Honeywell TPE331 engine, generates up to 30 percent more static thrust, according to Texas Turbine Conversions. The company also boasts shorter take-offs, quicker climbs and less fuel consumption.

The supplemental type certificate for the upgraded prop, which is 60 pounds lighter than the one it replaces, is expected to be approved by the end of the year.

A Supervan 900 with the upgraded 110-inch-diameter prop will be on display at AirVenture in Oshkosh from July 25–31 at Texas Turbine Conversions’ exhibit.
