It’s Planes of Fame Airshow Time at Chino

The day begins at 8 a.m. on May 4th.

This year’s Planes of Fame Air Show takes place on May 4-5 as usual at Chino Airport just over an hour’s drive east of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). There’s a special theme though this year as the world prepares to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the D-Day invasion of Europe in June 1944 that began to bring the curtain down on the five years of World War II. The show’s creators said this year is devoted to honoring the history, contributions and sacrifices of veterans everywhere.

The annual show evolved thanks to the work of hundreds of volunteers who keep the Planes of Fame Air Museum in Chino, the oldest independently operated air museum in the U.S., will feature more than 50 historic aircraft including A P-47 Thunderbolt, P-38 Lightning and a flock of P-51 Mustangs, including the P-51 Voodoo, the world’s fastest piston-powered Mustang. Additionally, visitors will see a USAF F-16 Viper Demo and Heritage Flight, WWII Airborne Demo Team Paratroopers, Pacific, European, Korean & Vietnam Flight Displays, Gregory ‘Wired’ Colyer’s aerobatic routine in a T-33, Eric Tucker’s Piper Cub demo and Rob Harrison in the Tumbling Bear.

The show includes a special Kid’s Zone, additional static displays and free admission for kids under 11 years of age. The day begins at 8 a.m. on Saturday. The show goes on rain or shine.
