It was a chaotic scene at Hollywood-Fort Lauderdale International Airport in Florida today after a gunman shot and killed five people in the baggage area and wounded at least eight others.
Police said the gunmen, who had a military ID identifying him as Esteban Santiago, was apprehended on the scene in Terminal 2.
A short time later, passengers began streaming out of Terminal 1, many of them at a full sprint, running onto the tarmac and runway.
A TFR is now in force 25 nm surrounding the airport.
A ground halt was in place at the airport and arriving flights were being held on the ground with passengers still on board. Thousands of passengers were stranded at the airport as security was dramatically beefed up at other U.S. airports.
