Cessna Selects Universities for 2016 Top Hawk Program

Four universities get use of Cessna Skyhawks for flight training recruitment.

Cessna Aviation Company, a subsidiary of Textron Aviation Inc., today announced the four universities selected for its 2016 Top Hawk program — Kent State University, LeTourneau University, Purdue University and Westminster College.

In February, Textron Aviation will deliver each of its Top Hawk partners a new, custom-branded Cessna Skyhawk 172 to support each schools’ flight training and recruiting efforts through October 2016.

In addition to delivering the aircraft, Textron Aviation will select a student from each university for a summer internship, exposing them to a variety of corporate departments, including sales, marketing, flight operations, integrated supply chain and engineering.

“Textron Aviation is excited to partner with these four leading aviation universities, building on the success from last year’s launch of Top Hawk,” says Doug May, vice president, Piston Aircraft.

“These universities are renowned for their innovative aviation programs and commitment to general aviation and will be leveraging the [world’s] leading flight trainer, the Cessna Skyhawk, to continue training the next generation of pilots.”

Textron Aviation started the Top Hawk program in 2015 when four other universities, Embry-Riddle, University of South Dakota, Kansas State University and Liberty University, had the use of brand new Cessna Skyhawks. The airplanes participated in a long list of aviation events, university events, flight schools, fly-ins, airshows and more.
