Challenger 300 and 350 operators will have new avionics capabilities available to them as Rockwell Collins has upgraded its Pro Line 21 system for these super-midsize jets. Bombardier calls the upgraded system Pro Line 21 Advanced. The new system will be included in all new Challenger 300s and Challenger 350s once they start to come off the production line. Pro Line 21 Advanced will also be available as a retrofit for in-service Challenger 300s.
New capabilities for the upgraded Pro Line 21 system include LPV, RNP, FANS 1/A, synthetic vision, ADS-B Out and controller-pilot datalink communications. The system also offers Rockwell Collins’ Integrated Flight Information System (IFIS), which includes electronic charts, maps and documents; uplinked global weather and XM satellite weather for the continental U.S., the Caribbean and some portions of Canada.
Challenger 300 and 350 operators can also select Rockwell Collins’ MultiScan Threat Detection system, a radar detects and analyzes not only thunderstorms but also phenomena such as turbulence and windshear as far as 320 nm ahead of the aircraft’s position.
