Beechcraft Adds Garmin G5000 Option for Hawker 400XPR

Competes with Nextant's re-engining offering.

Both Beechcraft and Nextant Aerospace offer engine/airframe/avionics upgrades for existing Hawker 400 jets (formerly the Beechjet, née Mitsubishi Diamond). Beech just upped the ante by offering the Garmin G5000 avionics suite as an option. The Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 is the other option.

Brian Howell, Beechcraft v-p of aftermarket sales and business development, said, “we’re seeing interest grow even more as we add the G5000 option and as the program surpasses performance estimates in our ongoing flight testing. We’re beating the competition at cruise performance and our time to climb is a huge differentiator for the 400XPR.” Beechcraft says its choice of Williams FJ44-4A-32 turbofans is superior to the -3As used on the Nextant conversion.

With its engines, the Beechcraft upgraded 400XPR can climb directly to 41,000 feet in 19 minutes, according to the company, while “the competition” requires a step climb. Beech says the range of its aircraft is 200 nautical miles greater than that of Nextant’s.

The Garmin suite offered for the 400XPR includes three high-resolution 12-inch screens and two touch screen controllers. It also includes Garmin’s advanced autopilot, PBN/RNP 0.3 with LPV/APV approach capability, Doppler weather radar and options for Synthetic Vision Technology (SVT), ADS-B, and Garmin TAS or TCAS I/II. The new flight deck is estimated to provide a weight savings of 200 pounds, said Beechcraft.
