Trig ADS-B Transponder Gains AML STC

Trig's TT31 covers 650 additional aircraft types.

Trig’s TT31 ADS-B-compatible Mode S transponder is now certified under a blanket STC covering 650 additional aircraft types, the U.K.-based avionics maker announced.

Billed as a “plug and play” ADS-B Out transponder that’s compatible with the Garmin GNS 400W and 500W series navigators as a replacement for BendixKing KT76A and KT78A transponders, the TT31 is designed to be a simple and affordable upgrade to meet the 2020 ADS-B Out mandate, the company says.

The list price for the transponder is around $3,200, although the unit is offered for less online. Gulf Coast Avionics, for example, sells the TT31 for $2,625.

In addition to meeting the ADS-B Out mandate, the 1090ES transponder also includes datalink support for TIS traffic alerts, uplinked from approach radars.
