Sunstate Aviation in Phoenix took delivery of the 100th Quest Kodiak turboprop single last week. In a ceremony at Kodiak’s factory in Sandpoint, Idaho, Quest CEO Sam Hill said, “Since the beginning, we have been committed to building a rugged, reliable aircraft that provides operators the versatility to accomplish any mission.”
Sunstate founder Mike Watts agrees. “It has the performance capabilities I was looking for and a cabin with the right mix of personal comfort and space for baggage and other equipment that we need,” he said. The Kodiak has a useful load of more than 3,500 pounds. It’s powered by a single Pratt & Whitney PT6A-34 engine rated at 700 continuous shaft horsepower (750 shp for takeoff). A fixed-gear turboprop single, the Quest Kodiak is available with oversize tundra tires and seats for up to eight passengers. There is also a skydiving package available.
First available in 2008, the Kodiak is now certified in 12 countries, with more approvals in the pipeline. Roles include charter, small business transport, personal flying, government operations and humanitarian missions.
