Dassault CEO Eric Trappier told reporters at EBACE that the Safran Silvercrest engine slated to power the company’s new Falcon 5X long range jet is delayed in its certification and suggested that the delay would likely push back certification of the 5X by many months.
Dassault said the delay is a result of flight test complications and a problem with heat exchangers. The engine is undergoing flight testing in San Antonio, Texas, on a Gulfstream II.
Dassault also detailed progress on its Falcon 8X program, saying that the big tri-jet program was progressing well, with three of the airplanes in flight testing now. It made its first flight in February and is scheduled for certification in 2017 with first deliveries in 2018.
