Breitling Jet Team Opens Sun ‘n Fun 2015

Thousands of visitors on tap for Florida show.

The inaugural appearance in North America by the Breitling Jet Team thrilled the crowd on the opening day of Sun ‘n Fun in Lakeland, Florida, which is off to a successful start despite torrential rains Monday that turned the show grounds to a muddy mess.

Camping and spectator areas are drying out today under mostly cloudy skies and warm temperatures as show organizers report strong visitor turnout, chock-a-block airplane arrivals and more than 500 exhibitors in the main show hangars and along the flight line.

Sun ‘n Fun CEO John “Lites” Leenhouts said more than 10,000 children from area schools will attend the show, including the arrival of a planeload of high school students aboard a JetBlue Airbus A320 on Thursday that fly in from Orlando International Airport.

The Breitling Jet Team, featuring seven black and silver Aero L-39s flying a heart-pounding precision routine, is launching a full North American tour with its appearances this week at Sun ‘n Fun. Next up will be the Manassas Airshow in Virginia in early May with 16 more stops planned through October.

If you missed Tuesday’s routine, the Breitling team will also make appearances at the show on Friday and Saturday afternoon.
