The Feds have acted irresponsibly on this advisory. Tim McVey was more effective with a Ryder truck. Perhaps they should also issue an advisory to truck rental and fertilizer concerns.
As a satellite receiver designer and pilot it is shameful that our regulatory agency (FCC) and private industry cannot do better than this fiasco. This is a technical matter that should have been managed properly from day one. The FCC has no one to blame but themselves for failing to properly protect and manage satellite spectrum users. And by the way...clearly self-regulation would not have worked here either.
Move on down the spectrum Lightspeed or expect a legal mess to ensue.
This the type of technical issue that the FCC is supposed to manage. You cannot expect a money-grubbing industry to self-police any more than you can do away with local law enforcement team. The lack of technical insight and the total politicization of the FCC is the problem. Before cell phones and the Internet then FCC was left alone to administer spectrum management from a technical perspective and did a pretty fair job. Now big money is screwing things up at the FCC. It will be a great and inefficient expenditure of time By both sides to resolve this mess that the FCC has allowed to fester. No wonder the Feds have a bad name with voters.
Correct me if I'm wrong but the top airlines have already negotiated lower fuel taxes than GA aircraft currently pay. That could be part of our problem here.
