Very cute! I'm glad to hear that you two are doing great and you're working to raise another excellent pilot starting at a very early age.
Burning Man Airport Open for Business

We had another successful year at the Black Rock Municipal Airport. It's true, this unique non-towered airport exists for only a week each year during the Burning Man event. This year we had more than 130 aircraft. And, we had almost 50o operations (take-offs or landings) each day during the busiest days.
The dirt runway is 5280 x 60 feet and this year it was almost as smooth and hard as many concrete runways.
We have all kinds of aircraft show up each year. From little Cessna 150's all the way up to Cessna CitationJets.
Air France 447: Was it a Deep Stall?

With three pilots in the cockpit towards the end, it's interesting to consider that the plane was in a recoverable condition most of the way down to the water.
Even without accurate airspeed, did they think that the continued high rate of descent was because of a downdraft? At some point, with the VSI pegged, I think I'd eventually think that I might be in a stalled condition and point the nose down.
Sad to think that this accident was completely preventable.

I'm also surprised that there are so many pilots who avoid talking to ATC and avoid airspace such as class B. I live in Southern California and request VFR Bravo clearances all the time and it's quite rare that the requests are declined. The secret is to be courteous, professional and comply with instructions as best as possible.
There's really no need to skirt airspace like this and take such risks. Especially in a plane like the Turbo Commander which has the performance not to be in anyone's way in Bravo airspace.
LSA Flying Car Starts Flight Test Program

As interesting of an idea as this is, I still think it's an answer to a question that nobody's really asking.
All of the people I've spoken to who are excited about this are non-pilots. When I tell them that they'll still need to obtain a pilot's license (at least an LSA license) they're a bit less excited.
It also seems a bit unwieldy both in the air and on the ground and other than the gee-wiz factor, I think I'd have more fun with my non-flyable car and non-roadable airplane.
But, that's just my opinion. I hope they can sell all they can make!
