Microsoft to Give ‘Flight’ Game Away for Free?

Skymachines attempts to make a good, if not ignorant, argument but it is fundamentally flawed. In 1971, a brand new Chevy Corvette would run you $5496. Today they're upwards of $50,000. You can't simply compare numbers from then and now and say "Look! I told you it's happening." Milk, wheat, eggs and flour have all gone up exponentially in price. Can less people afford to eat? Sure, but that doesn't stop the fat people from finding ways to eat. I believe the same rule applies to GA. There are those who are content to simply look at a pretty shape and wiggle a couple joysticks and that satisfies the desire to "fly." I was never one of those. You cannot simply play a video game and be satisfied that you have achieved something. Flying to Rome, Paris, London, Sao Paolo, Moscow, Sydney and Beijing may be possible while sitting in your game chair eating cheese puffs, but it will never come close to the excitement of flying a real aircraft. There is no comparison. For lack of better comparison, that's like saying that if I play Forza Motorsports I will never have the desire to some day drive a Bugatti Veyron or Enzo Ferarri.
Is flying expensive? Yes. This is not a new fact or something plaguing the GA community. Flying has always been expensive and has always been an elite group simply because of that nature.
This game is an atrocity to the FS franchise and thankfully does not carry the name. This game does no more for the GA industry than the infamous Call of Duty franchise does for the military.

"Boeing and others don't play this crap."
Perhaps you should read the article about Boeing shutting down their Wichita facility due to an anticipated cut in their government contract. Oops.
Hey V, give up the government bashing. Are executives receiving too much? Perhaps, but if you're here that means you're an aviation enthusiast. As an aviation enthusiast, you should probably read such articles as "The Future of the Flight Department" which states "According to a Harris Poll study, 74 percent of business jet flights carry sales, technical and middle management employees." Just because a company has a fleet of corporate jets ranging from C206s to Citation Tens, doesn't mean they're only for the boss. Those executives usually did something to get where they are. They don't simply wake up, put on a suit and earn $500M a year (that is a guess not a fact). There is certainly no denying that there is a problem with our system, but saying that the solution is for executives to redistribute their wealth is simply not the answer. I wish they'd turn off the WiFi at the Occupy movements.
Now, back to the article. It's a real shame to see the Premier II or Hawker 200 get shelved. If they could've found a good price point, it would've been an excellent compromise of operating cost and operating abilities.
Audio: Controllers Under Investigation for Ignoring Distress Call

I agree, the pilot of the multi-million dollar aircraft with priceless lives on board is clearly at fault for not communicating better with an airborne fire apparently developing. Where's the rolling eyes smiley?
I applaud the captain and crew for executing a safe landing and evacuation personally...the controller should be fired.

You're both under the assumption that this is direct competition for the big three in corporate transit. It's important to remember that this aircraft is designed as an air taxi to carry 1-3 passengers on a 2 hour flighty speeds around 370KIAS for roughly $700/hr. it's very purpose built to be a fast short and cheap hauler versus a luxurious long-range hauler. Cessna's Mustang and M2 are the only aircraft close to direct competition.
