A Half Million Stupid Pilots

All of the obvious aside there are some very important features of a TAA glass cockpit in a single engine aircraft that typically aren't mentioned. The two I like the best are being able to return to the runway after an engine failure or emergency in IMC. I always brief this on every departure. In am airplane with very good climb performance you only have a few seconds where this option may not be available. The runway is right in front of you on a twelve inch display.
Another is a night flight in IMC. Risky business in a single anyway but with a G1000 display the risk is reduced. In the event you had an engine failure you can put yourself over an airport or if none available highways and secondary roads are displayed on the MFD.
Unfortunately like so many other things if you aren't current and familiar on the equipment then all of it's benefits dwindle.

There is no such thing as old bold pilots. Old is relative. This guy reinforces that saying.
I feel sympathy for the loved ones of the deceased. But no spectators should be that close to a bunch of yahoo daredevils flying around pylons at 500 MPH. This is just a terrible accident waiting to happen.

The system is flawed. I once saw a case where 3 air traffic controllers who controlled the airspace in over and around an adiz were told they violated the airspace. Two of these controllers were faa safety counselors. One was atp rated and a cfi gold seal. They were all flying in faa govt business when they got the same message. Call the tracon.
