True, Microsoft killed FS two years ago, but Lockheed's just getting started with the Prepar3D product, which has already improved on FSX and will only get better as the software is further refined. This is good news for flight training device makers who license the software and the pilots who will train on these new, relatively low-cost simulators.
As for how good MS Flight will turn out to be, time will tell. The teaser videos and screen grabs on Microsoft's website look promising.
