Obama Duplicitous about Bizav

Flying Magazine has done a great job of covering all aspects from the day I first started pumping avgas on a flight line in the late 70's till now. I have always found that Flying has covered all aspects of our industry. But if you only read select articles then you might think otherwise.
Our industry has multiple problems to deal with: Certification, the FAA has set up an almost impossible process of rules and regulations to deal with before the first airplane rolls down the line. Trying to regulate stupidity out of the equation will never work and until we realize that people make mistakes and there are no guarantees in life then the cost of building a new airplane will never come down.
Yes, if you fly anything in to the side of a mountain at 200 kts you will die.
Which brings me to liability: Yes if you fly a plane into the side of a mountain at 200 kts. while in IMC and not IMC rated, you will die. Don't blame it on the manufacturer, of the engine, the avionics, the airframe, the exhaust etc.
When the industry is left alone and not over regulated technology and innovation prospers. This holds true with any industry. The 100,000.00 airplane is out there, you just have to build it yourself (less regulation). Some better than others but they are out there.
As far as Obama and the "fat cats" this is just another case of class warfare. I will take a crooked "fat cat" any day over a corrupt and or over regulating government. At least I can choose to buy or not to buy the products as for government, no choice, their way or the highway. The Fat Cats purchase the planes which employs the pilots, line technicians, manufacturers, assembly people etc.
Our problem is not the rich buying the products it is the government over regulating our industry that is. Just check what it cost to certify a plane in the 70's and what it cost now. Can you imagine where would be if we relied on the government to develop computers and cell phones. Cell mail?
A Sad Day? Continental Motors Sold to Chinese Firm

It is sad but expected, our once upon a time great aerospace industry is being taken over by foreign entities from all over the globe. But this is not limited to just aerospace, been shopping lately and read the "made in" labels? We need to wake up and understand what is happening.
It is happening in other ways also. I heard from an individual a couple months ago that was contemplating certifying an aircraft. They were advised by the FAA it would be easier and cheaper to get it done overseas. Can anyone imagine what creativity would happen if the hinderances of government over regulation were lifted and the new designs and technology would come? Oh wait, in a way it has, the Experimental movement, but that is being over regulated now.
Why Cessna's Piston Singles Are Key

When I first started in aviation in the late seventies the FBO I worked for sold a brand new Piper Dakota to a couple that were retired teachers. The Dakota sold for 41,000.00 full IFR. That same aircraft, albeit with some up graded avionics, now sell in the 300K range. That plus the cost of fuel, insurance etc become such a stopping point for most people considering a new aircraft. One of our local flight schools just filed for bankruptcy after feeding the operating costs of brand new 172's from Cessna, so they could be a "Cessna Pilot Center" and in order to maintain profitability had to charge very high rental rates. There needs to be some changes in the industry, many, in order for this industry to really grow.
We have a long way to go, I hope you are right though that it is just around the corner.

Great lines and looks to be a good design. I see one problem is the T tail. While working with a Piper dealer in the early 80's I got to see first hand how well a T tail on a small aircraft does not work. Piper saw this also and discontinued the T tail aircraft. For instance the Piper Lance went from a good short distance t/o aircraft to a marginal one. Things look great on CAD and can be made to look amazing but from design screen to flight might be a rude awakening.
Surprising Cause of Oshkosh F-16 Runway Overrun

Under the circumstances it was a great landing, the pilot walked away and no additional people were hurt. He made a decision and all that was done was some damage to a piece of equipment. It looks as though it was done right, good job.
