Hi Lane,
As is the case with Peter Conant, I too have been a Lane admirer given the heart, soal and self reflection which you weave so well through your articles. While living and flying out of Petaluma, I always hoped to bump into you and your Cheetah somewhere in the Bay Area. But to no avail. If you and your teen copilot land anywhere near Tucson, Arizona I would welcome the opportunity to meet and to give you an introduction to this area......my new home from the fog.
We're looking forward to future updates as you hop skip across the country side. Safe travels.

Mac,
Your involment has been instrumental in making FLYING the premeir avaition magazine it is today. Both your professsional and personal touch has given us years of pleasure and insights; and I had anticipated many more years of the same. So I expect many of your readers are as disappointed as I to hear of your departure. Thanks for the ride.

Falcon 7X Trim Runaway Update - Details of Wild Ride Emerge

If I remember my student private pilot materials correctly, a blocked or iced over pitot tube results in a false indication of greater air speed, and the corrective action is to maintain or increase the throttle, not retard it. It appears the Air France crew got it backward after their pitot iced over.
Jack Pelton Out at Cessna

Pelton knows the industry well and he knew what he was doing. Prospectively, the question will be do Pelton's bosses at Textron know what they are doing? His leadership will be missed by employees and by many of us who fly Cessnas. No doubt Pelton will land on his feet.

Pia,
I'm still getting used to your being a new contributor. That said, I was moved by your discription of the tragic events at the Reno airshow and by your open and heartflealt reaction to the accident. I hope you continue to show your emotions while reporting coherently...................and I will look forward to enjoying your future comments.
