I have a private pilot license from abroad, how do I get certified here in the US?
asked by martovar 1 year 48 weeks agoYou need to contact an FAA Flight Standards District Office (FSDO) for procedures that are specific to the country that issued your license. Additional training or checking may be required in some instances. See faa.gov to find the most convenient FSDO.

Dear friends! I´m about to decide to buy a PIPER CHEYANNE I year 1982 in great shape!, my problem is that I heard is difficult to find supplies: Do you feel theres future for this kind of planes?
asked by Abraham Alamo 2 years 1 week agoParts continue to be available for the Cheyenne family of turboprops. Many items such as the engines, propellers, brakes, tires and so on that need more or less continuous maintenance are made by companies other than Piper so you can expect them to be available.
Replacement parts specific to the Cheyenne airframe and its systems may be harder to find, or take longer, but I know of no reported shortages.
It is doubtful that Piper would resume manufacturing the Cheyenne in the future, but the fleet of existing airplanes is large enough that aftermarket parts makers will no doubt step in if true spare parts shortages develop.

Do you have to be a certin weight to be a pilot?
asked by SkyLark 2 years 13 weeks agoThere are no weight or size limits for pilots established by the FAA. So long as a person can demonstrate that they can reach and operate all necessary controls that is all that matters.

Quest Aircraft: Their workforce has been reduced to 15 hrs p/wk, which suggests their backlog is no longer viable. Are they going 2 make it?
asked by am_douglas 2 years 11 weeks agoAll forecasts for 2010 are for airplane deliveries to be the same, or fewer than in 2009. We hope all manufacturers can continue, but nobody knows.

On page 47 of current Mar`10 issue, the CJ4 clearly has an older-style "long-wire" antenna. What is this ant. for,in modern era of avionics?
asked by sackboy 2 years 10 weeks agoThe long wire antenna is for the HF radio. HF antennas must be much longer that for VHF. Sometimes an HF antenna can be hidden behind a fairing or other non conductive part of the airplane, but a long wire is still common.
