The Human Factor: Overcoming Go-Around Hesitation

I learned about flying from that:
My first "go round" was in '66 after a mere 120 hours, in an underpowered, newly introduced, C177 at the normally sleepy Reinbeck New York. Locally famous for it's WW l vintage airshow on summer Sundays some blodclot closed the runway when I was well below minimum and this blodclot tried to go around with 4 sob, pretty close to gross. I hadn'd started my flair so it was all balls to the wall to recover air speed and altitude before the pine trees blocked my escape. It turned out later that the airport was out of parking. To re run yesterday's horse race, I should have flared and landed and departed again if need be. I was below minimum, power cut back with my hand on the throttle to come back to idle with a clear runway. To that point I had NEVER faced the situation and my instructor, who loved take off power loss drills, never covered the go around as such but was a pretty simple adaption. I'm sure it's probably covered now or I would hope so, and on the test(s)
