I think flying clubs are the best. It might depend on where you live but in the Midwest they help a lot with cost. I was renting a 1978 Cessna 172 with old avionics for 135 wet. The club I joined has a 1995 Cessna 172r with 180hp upgrade, modern avionics including full Instrument and GPS. He new engine has only 300 hours. There was only a 500 fully refundable membership fee and monthly dues of 60. And 41 an hour dry with no over night limitations. There are 18 members but inky about 6 of us actually fly so its very easy to get the plane several hours a week or fir trips. I couldn't think of a better way to fit than with a club these days.
