The Human Factor: Rekindling the Romance of Aviation

A lot like my experience. But it was a DC-7.
But when I learned to fly long, long ago, dual in a J-3 was about $13 an hour. I flew for years paying about $5 wet for a T-craft.
Now it's $144 / hour for a 172, $95 for a 152, and who knows how much for instruction.
Could cost be a big, big factor?

Ah! Memories.
Thank you from an old pilot who can't afford to fly any more.
Oh, for the days when dual in a J-13 was $13 an hour.

$350,000 for an LSA?
I thought ultralights and light sport aircraft were supposed to make flying affordable again.
What the **** happened?

$74,999?
Whatever happened to the idea that LSA would make flying affordable again?
I soloed a J-3 back when dual was $13 an hour. Now as a retired teacher, there has been no way I could fly and I haven't been off the ground for ten years now.
I had hopes when ultralights began to appear, but they've all been dashed.
