NTSB Plans Amateur-Built Accident Seminar
On Saturday August 24 the National Transportation Safety Board will hold a seminar on “lessons learned” from accidents involving experimental amateur-built (E-AB) aircraft. Though some 33,000 E-ABs constitute a bit less than 10 percent of the U.S. GA fleet, the category accounts for 15 percent of accidents and more than 20 percent of fatal accidents, according to the Board.
NTSB member Earl Weener will be the featured presenter, and will highlight data from the Board’s investigations into E-AB accidents. Also participating in the program are the FAA, AOPA and EAA.
The seminar will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the NTSB Training Center in Ashburn, Virginia. Admission is free, but limited to no more than 200 attendees. To register, visit the NTSB’s website.
