The University of North Dakota plans to resume dual-only flight training Thursday following a tragic incident that killed an aviation student Monday night.
The school paused flight training on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Students were not being pressured to fly Thursday and are being encouraged to take their time returning to the airplanes, if needed. The school also issued a statement saying counseling services are available to students.
The school is assessing when they will allow solo flights. They will likely resume next week.
On Monday at about 8:30 p.m., a solo flight piloted by 19-year-old John Hauser went down in a field near the Traill County community Southeast of Bruxon.
The incident is being investigated by the NTSB, the FAA, and the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
More than 100 students gathered Tuesday to remember John at a memorial held on campus by UND.
This was the first fatal aircraft incident at the school since 2007.
UND hosts one of the largest aviation flight training programs in the country with 1,800 students and 500 faculty members.
