What's the best part about being in a flying club?
Flying clubs frequently offer a variety of benefits for their members, such as reducing the costs of flying, opening up scheduling flexibility and providing a sense of community among fellow aviators, just to name a few. Have you ever been part of a flying club? If so, what's your favorite part about it? What flying club do you belong to and how long have you been a member?
For more information on this topic, check out Stephen Pope's recent blog post, "Welcome to the Club."

If you're in a true club (one not owned by a for-profit FBO) then the best part obviously is flying cheaper than the guy renting. Many clubs fly the planes only for direct costs of operation (fuel, maint reserves, hanger, etc) and many charge based on tach time not hobbs. That can save a bundle right there.
There are lot of other reasons for being in a club but saving money is the best.

One of the best things about flying clubs is that the membership tend to treat the planes better than renters do from a flight school or FBO. Often club planes have things flight schools don't have, like wheel fairings or better avionics. And hourly cost can be less than the flight school rate, certainly a consideration for those who have to log a lot of time towards their commercial, instrument or even multi-engine courses.
