Quest Aircraft has landed European certification for the Kodiak single-engine turboprop, permitting deliveries of European-registered airplanes to begin. Quest says Europe is already home to six Kodiaks operating with U.S. “N” numbers.
Rob Wells, the newly appointed CEO of the Sandpoint, Idaho-based manufacturer, called the EASA approval a “significant milestone” for the rugged 10-seat utility airplane, which is now certified in more than 50 countries.
“We anticipate that Europe will play an important role in the continued growth of our company, even more so now with the recent and very welcome regulation changes in regards to single-engine turboprop commercial operations,” he says.
The European Aviation Safety Agency in March approved single-engine turbine aircraft to operate commercially and at night in IMC, a rule change years in the making that has been cheered by commercial operators across the continent.
