FBO Spotlight: Sonoma Jet Center (KSTS)

Flying reader Mike Lauder details how this Californian FBO went well above and beyond the costumer service status quo.

Sonoma Jet Center (KSTS)
Santa Rosa, California

In our FBO Spotlight series, we’re highlighting FBOs around the country that have received rave reviews from our readers. The latest Spotlight is brought to you by Cessna T-210 pilot Mike Lauder, who was recently wowed by the costumer service provided at Sonoma Jet Center (KSTS), in Santa Rosa, California.

After a fuel stop on my way to a wedding last October, I experienced the failure of a landing gear microswitch. Two mechanics stopped what they were doing late on a Friday to diagnose the problem.

One offered to come in on his day off (Saturday) to replace the microswitch that I ordered to be over-nighted for Saturday morning delivery. He completed installing the switch around noon on Saturday and, as luck would have it, my vacuum pump failed during the test flight for the gear. Again, he located a vacuum pump in stock and volunteered to work early Sunday morning knowing I had to be a thousand miles away to work by Monday morning.

I’m sure it helped that he was also a pilot and aircraft owner, but working his whole weekend to get us on our way was really going “beyond that extra mile”. The counter staff and other mechanic were also very cordial and obliging.

I would highly recommend Sonoma Jet Center to anyone traveling in the Santa Rosa, California, area.
