Recovery teams have embarked on renewed efforts to search and recover the wreckage of a U.S. Air Force Globemaster that crashed in 1952.

The wreckage was spotted earlier this month by members of the National Guard flying in the area.

All 52 people aboard the ill-fated Globemaster were killed when it went down in bad weather in November 1952.

Search and rescue personnel were never able to fully access the wreckage after the crash due to continuing heavy snowfall.

Now, family members of those lost in the crash hope the new investigation will bring some closure, and potentially some answers as to what caused the accident.
