Piper announced that Jim Bass, who has led Piper to surprisingly good performance over the past four years as president and CEO, has resigned that position. Bass said that the move was a culmination of his turning the company around, preparing it for its sale last month to Imprimis. During his tenure, Piper revamped its lineup, creating a new model, the Matrix, which was a big sales success, redesigning the flight decks of several of its airplanes, and launching development of a single-engine jet. Bass said he was ready to "move on to other challenges." Kevin Gould, who oversaw operations at the company's Vero Beach, Florida, factory, will assume the title of CEO, and John Becker, VP of engineering, will become president of Piper.
