As Hawker Beechcraft enters into exclusive talks with Beijing-based Superior Aviation over a potential sale of the American manufacturer, Hawker Beech lawyers are asking the bankruptcy court to grant bonuses for a number of top company execs.

The bonuses are intended for a group of senior management that includes Hawker Beechcraft’s chairman, executive VP and chief financial officer, among a handful of others. According to a report by Eyewitness News 12 in Wichita, members of the management group could see payouts up to 200 percent of their base salaries if the bonuses are approved.

In the motion filed on Friday, Hawker Beechcraft lawyers maintained, “The debtors’ senior management team will play an indispensable role in the performance of the business over the next few months… . Individual members of the SLT (senior leadership team) have worked around the clock (sometimes literally), shouldering responsibilities that are well above and beyond their day-to-day duties outside of chapter 11.”

In addition to the bonuses for Hawker Beechcraft’s top management, approximately 30 other managers will receive retention bonuses if the motion is granted.

The move comes on the heels of news that Hawker Beechcraft is making plans to sell the company to Superior for a price of $1.79 billion. The deal would not include Hawker Beechcraft Defense Company, which is slated to remain an independent entity under the agreement.

Hawker Beechcraft filed for bankruptcy in May after accumulating $2.5 billion in debt.

You have GOT to be kidding me! Let's see they drove the company into bankruptcy and now they want up to 200% of their likely exorbitant salaries.? I don't think so. Keep the cash and pay it out to the workers who will be out of work when the whole kit and caboodle is shipped to China. They worked around the clock. Really, perhaps they should have done that BEFORE they went bankrupt and this would now not be necessary.

Run an American icon into the ground and then ask US tax payers for a bonus for doing a terrible job. Meanwhile, aviation-industry families are trying to figure out how to put food on the table. These execs are pieces of dog feces!

Pathetic points of view.

First of all, the US Government is a major reason why HBC is in the position. The White House wants private aircraft for government officials, not business, which is the customer base of HBC. The White House made that point clear to GAMA before they were inaugurated, but before the Prez took no less than four heavy iron jets to treat the 1st lady to a broadway show...can you spell hypocrisy ???

Regardless, Goldman Sachs and Onyx are on the hook, not the US taxpayers. The equity holders are taking a bath. The unions must not have paid their dues to the Chicago goons.

Be careful though. The White House could care less if DoD technology is transferred to Superior, as in advanced carbon technology.

I wholeheartedly agree withChamnpPilot44... twice. These guys focused HBC away from what made them successful for decades—making the best single- and multi-engined light planes on the market—and toward ever more expensive jet developments for an already over-saturated market. This is the same hubris that almost bankrupted Beech with the Starship fiasco. These poor decisions drove them into bankruptcy, aided also by yet another year of poor economy caused by a different group of corrupt executives in the investment banking industry. Result, more ownership of the US industrial base shipped to a country that does n0ot share our values and treats its population like chattels.

When is America going to rise up against this type of corporate greed and corruption? When are the 99% going to prevail over the selfish, perpetually entitled 1% who wish to hijack the election by first buying the GOP nomination and then making obscene donations to super pacs with no accountability to anyone... net even to the candidate himself?

What do you c all a bunch of executives chained to the bottom of the ocean? A good start.

God bless America...and Canada too!

I've got a Great idea. Lets load up all of the OVERPAID EXECUTIVES and load them on Air Force 1 and send them along with ODummaBumma to China instead. I'm sure they will do a VERY FINE JOB of destroying China's economy and the U.S. will once be strong again.
