An FAA Aviation Rulemaking Committee made 36 follow-on recommendations for implementation of Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B), leading the FAA to reopen the public comment period on the ADS-B proposal until November 3. Among the recommendations are moves to ease the equipment transition for aircraft operators from transponders and ELTs; and to improve weather and traffic-avoidance services, providing incentive to owners to equip their aircraft with ADS-B equipment even before the 2020 compliance deadline. Also on the ARC agenda was making the transition as affordable as possible. Among those supporting the ARC's recommendations is the Experimental Aircraft Association, which proposes sending comments by going to regulations.gov and following the prompts to post your opinions and concerns.
