AOPA and EAA Join Hands in Cooperation

The two largest general aviation 'alphabet groups' have always had a cooperative working relationship. But that synergy was formalized last week in a meeting between the two groups' leaders. AOPA President Craig Fuller and EAA Chairman and President Tom Poberezny met to map out strategies in using the groups' resources to further the interests of pilots. The three-tier effort will focus on promoting safety, protect GA interests and seek out ways to expand the general aviation community. The talks identified several near-term goals that will be brought out in the coming weeks. Fuller said, "Each of our associations has been an effective advocate for GA, but now [we will be] working more closely together at all levels to protect and enhance general aviation." Poberezny said, "The majority of our nation's pilots belong to one or both of these organizations, so our members expect us to utilize these strengths in a way that addresses the long-term vitality of general aviation."
