NAFI’s Professional Development Program Coming to FAASTeamTV

New center offers members a method to share instructional knowledge.

The National Association of Flight Instructors launches its new professional development program, a cooperative effort between NAFI and the aviation industry, tomorrow night via live streaming on FAASTeamTV. The new PDP segment begins at 8 p.m. EST.

The program is the culmination of years of effort to give NAFI members a way to share instructional knowledge within the CFI community. Bob Meder, NAFI board chair, and Rick Todd, NAFI board president, will discuss how NAFI’s PDP offers advanced development for flight instructors to improve aviation safety, proficiency and increase pilot completion numbers. The presentation qualifies for FAASTeam Wings Pilot Proficiency Program credit and will be archived at faasafety.gov.

“We are very excited to launch the NAFI PDP because it’s a great opportunity for members to get involved and share valuable information and experience with the flight instruction community,” Todd said. Members will have the opportunity to offer content and present their material during various future PDP events.

NAFI also plans to introduce additional PDP content at the NAFI Professional Development Center (PDC) at next month’s AirVenture in Oshkosh. The center will feature a 50-seat theater for presentations by members for other CFIs, a simulator classroom with four Precision Flight Controls AATDs for real-life scenario-based sim training for flight instructors, and a Mentorship Cafe for networking with fellow members, NAFI staff and board members.
