King Schools/NAFI Offer Generous CFI Scholarship

CFIs are eligible to win advanced training valued at $18,000.

With the growing pilot shortage, there is an urgent need for flight instructors. One way King Schools and the National Association of Flight Instructors (NAFI) are addressing the problem is through a generous scholarship to allow a flight instructor to further his or her education.

“NAFI and King Schools understand that flight instructors are the key to creating pilots that are truly ready to be pilot in command,” said King Schools co-founders John and Martha King. “Our organizations are passionate about preparing CFIs for that awesome responsibility and this scholarship will help the winner advance both their CFI ratings and knowledge.”

Valued at $18,000, the scholarship includes $5,000 in cash toward an instructor training program and lifetime access to the entire King Schools course library. The access also includes free Flight Instructor Refresher Courses for life.

This year’s scholarship was awarded at the annual Sun ‘n Fun International Fly-In & Expo in Lakeland, Florida, in April to a CFI from Tavernier, Florida, Terry Carbonell, who will use the funds toward a multi-engine instructor certificate.

The application process for the 2018 scholarship is open now with a deadline of January 3, 2018. In addition to providing various documents, including pilots’ certificates, NAFI membership, logbook entries and more, applicants must submit three letters of reference and a 500-word essay. The scholarship will be awarded at the 2018 Sun ‘n Fun show.
