From 1935-46, Pan American Airlines initiated transpacific flight and ruled the aviation world. Jon E. Krupnick's comprehensive hardcover book, Pan American's Pacific Pioneers-the Rest of the Story, is an expansion of his first book, in which he tells the story of Pan Am's mission to bridge the Pacific. Pan Am built five seaplane bases across the Pacific in 1935 and flew flying boats, or "clipper ships," primarily to the Philippines and Hong Kong. Krupnick details the trailblazing efforts of Pan Am's airmail and passenger flights across the Pacific and captures the 11-year period through souvenir flight covers (evidence of first survey flights), interviews and vintage photographs.
