Aviat is now offering the Garmin G600 flat glass combined PFD and MFD as an option on new or existing Husky A-1C taildragger airplanes. The G600 combines all necessary IFR instrumentation on one half of its display, and shows maps, weather radar and much more on the other MFD half. The G600 also contains electronic gyros to determine both attitude and heading, and a digital air data computer to measure airspeed, altitude and vertical speed.
To back up the G600 for IFR flight Aviat installs two-inch attitude gyro, airspeed and altimeter instruments, along with a backup battery. The Electronic Instruments MVP50 flat-glass color engine-instrument monitor is also available as an option to replace the conventional gauges.
To make power and mixture setting more precise Aviat has switched to vernier twist-type throttle and mixture controls. For more information and pricing on the new options, see aviataircraft.com.
