Bendix/King has earned FAA TSO approval for its KI 825 electronic horizontal situation indicator (EHSI), and the company is shipping units. The cost of the EHSI is $12,000. The KI 825 has a number of features never seen before on a product like this. (There is only one price-comparable product in the market, the Sandel SN3308 EHSI.) Bendix/King's entry is a standard three-inch ATI format instrument that features a bright, sunlight readable liquid crystal display (LCD). While it looks like an electronic version of an electromechanical HSI, the KI 825 has several features possible only with an electronic instrument, including course line and waypoint display, as well as multiple view configurations.
Bendix/King will make the KI 825 available to both the new aircraft and retrofit markets. For more information, visit www.bendixking.com.
