... OK - let's start something else that's good and contraversial, ''cause this subject's been talked to death. Like if we think it's a great idea to fly VFR in 3 miles visibility (three guesses as to where I stand on that topic!).

Ok rvmeder, I'm guessing you're either 500 feet below or 1000 feet above.
I know I didn't really get it when I first started flying... 3SM or 30SM, what's the difference as long as you can stay upright, right? (Of course my instructors helped with the judgement in the beginning.)
But anyway after all the discussion on this topic about traffic avoidance, I don't think I'd be too comfortable in that much muck. To say nothing of not being able to see developing weather ahead, navigational difficulties, etc.
But what are all the issues with poor visibility anyway? I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts on this.
Common sense should always come first.
