Len Morgan

Published: May 15, 2005

There is a main topic area dedicated to Gordon Baxter's 80th birthday. I would like to see a main topic area dedicated to Len Morgan, who passed away on March 11th (see June Flying). How does one get this done? Len and Bax were probablythe 2 most incisive and entertaining columnists ever to grace the pages of Flying.

I absolutely agree. I grew up with Flying, and while I've always enjoyed the many different topics and articles, I always cherished Vectors and Bax Seat. I have missed both writers deeply since they stopped their columns.

I read about Morgan's passing while waiting for a photo CD of a fight card at La Villita to get done right. Simply put as a writer he has been inspirational. "A Derlict Hulk is Worth a Thousand Words" showed what a good essay could do emotionally. Writing is like flying you can get inspired by a master. There are times where you work on the craft of writing like flying. A well written essay is like a well executed manuver in an airplane. Working on my site the goal is to handle a column like Bax or Morgan did. Like a student pilot wowed by a master I some of my writing I want to be like Bax ans Morgan.

God speed Bax and Morgan...thanks you have inspired this ex pilot now boxer and boxing writer.
