Recently I was working at my employer’s jobsite in south Raleigh, North Carolina when a pair of F-15 Eagles flew over at about a thousand feet creating enough noise to cause everyone to look up in surprise. One of my co-workers made a snide comment” they play, we pay, the jerks.” I looked at this civilian in dismay and replied that one time in my military service that the ugliest airplane in the U.S.A.F, an A-10 Warthog, was the prettiest sight I ever saw during a close air support operation during the first Gulf War. It seemed to me that this civilian who never spent one day in the military was the only jerk I encountered that day. Thanks guys, you keep playing at close air support and God bless our troops.
