I read with delight and sadness the recent column by Lane and the decade-old story about the father and son. It is this type of story that has propelled me to begin writing personal histories. I've been a freelance writer for the past 29 years (or so) and have always cherished most the stories I've written about people's lives. A couple of years ago, I decided I wanted to pursue this even more. Now, in addition to other assignments, I have begun writing personal histories for people's private use. As you all know, the window is closing for recording these memories before the "Greatest Generation" passes. If anyone is interested, I encourage you to check out my website: thatsyourstory.com and see what I'm up to. I could especially relate to Lane's original column, as my father was a bombardier in a B-24 in WWII. Thankfully he survived the war or I wouldn't be here writing this post! And I too, sat inside the plane during a visit to my city, imagining the horror of his duty. Nancy
