Part 135 Charter Company Taking Shortcuts on Maintenance

Published: Apr 06, 2011

Part 135 Charters companies should be very responsible able how they do maintenance and the parts they use. Universal Jet in Boca Raton is about as irresponsible as any company can get and has a great disregard for passenger safety and uses parts that are mostly taken from aircraft in the dessert and have nothing but an as removed tag on them. They are never sent out for a bench certification and the mechanics that work on the aircraft are forced to use parts that most likely wil not last or do not have the lastest mods installed simply because the ownership at Universal Jet in Boca Raton think it ok to be cheap when it comes to fixing the aircraft that real people are flying on and paying premium prices for that transportation. In the parts room at their maintenance facility are parts that were taken out as broken parts and left on the shelf not sent out for repair, management tries to get the technicians to use them at a later date as if they will suddenly work after sitting for a while. I wonder what some of their customers would do if they were told about how cheaply the repairs were made to the aircraft they were about to fly on!
