I AM 53 WITH INSTRUMENT AND SEL COMM RATINGS , HOW OLD IS TOO OLD TO START FLYING FOR A LIVING?

When you can no longer pass the physical (2nd Class min.) Other than that there will be a bias against hiring a pilot over 50 years of age. However, I think that it's comforting to sit next to an instructor that's old enough to be my dad! Gray hairs on the teacher don't hurt the confidence of the new student.

Well, You can always fly with an instructor. Just shooting IFR night Approaches is the most fun flying for me. And you don't need a medical.
Maybe the FAA will adopt the, driver's license for a medical, for flying Sport Aircraft. I hope so.
