Well, my wife has decided it would be cool if the family flew up to NYC this summer in our cheetah. I asked my flight instructor if he had any advice and he said if it was him he'd be on the phone with Delta.
So I come to you for advice. I know Richard Collins navigates the area on a regular basis, and have read many tales of Teeterboro and other places, but I can't remember all the do's and don'ts.
This much I know: We plan on leaving Gadsden Alabama on a Friday morning, July 22, 2005. She already has hotel reservations somewhere in Manhattan near central park and not too far from Brooklyn Tabernacle where we will be on Sunday morning to hear their choir. We intend to depart for home sometime Sunday afternoon.
I need to figure out which general aviation airport will be easiest to deal with, as far as getting ground transportation to the hotel. What I am looking for is subway / train service nearby. As a bonus, I'd rather not be hit with scary ramp and tie-down fees. ($125 a night??????? )
We drove up a few years ago, stayed in New Jersey someplace, and had no problem getting over to the city by train / subway.
I and the airplane are IFR equiped and current.
