I am looking into surprising my fiance with a headset as a birthday gift. He'll likely be testing for his private pilot's license around that time as well. However - I'm generally somewhat overwhelmed with all the options out there. I'd like some help with your collective wisdom! So, in your opinion:
1) What's the most comfortable headset out there? The least comfortable? Do gel cushions really make a difference in how a headset feels? Can any headset be retrofitted to be supremely comfortable, or are there design issues which make some headsets inherently uncomfortable?
2) What's the most important feature to look for in headsets, technically speaking? Is it the noise reduction capacity? The microphone? Is there any company that's known for being particularly reliable in terms of the technical aspect of headphones?
3) Best buy? Worst buy? Extravangent buy? And particularly for the extravagent headsets - are they in your opinion, worth it, given the extra cost?
Any information would be greatly appreciated by me (and hopefully my fiance, too!). Thanks!
