Published: Aug 17, 2003

Performance numbers are readily available for me to make that type of comparision, but how about maintenance issues?

The difference is like a Yugo Vs. BMW.

You decide which one is the Yugo.

Well, I'd rather consider the Baron as a Porsche with a BMW ride.

Porsche has been improving the same design for excellence for years, so has Beechcraft with the Baron.

Although I accept that beauty is in the eye of the beholder (and do not wish to offend Piper owners) the Baron, like the 911, is remarkable in it's timeless and incredible design and performance.

I love my 911's and Boxster (and the wifes BMW) almost as much as my Baron.

Sometimes I just stare at the Baron in the hanger in awe of its beauty ....

Signed,

A Baron lover

Sorry Larry but the Baron lover above (me) failed to answer your question.

The Porshes are not cheap to maintain and neither is the Baron.

But as machines get older, high quality build in my opinion, is cheaper in the long run and will more likely than not hold its value better.

Sounds more like a comparing Toyota Land Cruiser vs a Bmw. Aztecs have some talents that a Baron couldn't have. I use mine for Part 135 cargo flying into short 2000 foot airstrips . 35 boxes of live fish weighing 38 pounds each. My competitors tried this in Barons , they can only carry 26 boxes..and promptly collapsed their landing gears on the 2nd month.
