Too right! I used to think I was the only one to ponder the question of whether "Charity" can be applied to organizations with paramilitary overtones (the uniforms, badges and haircuts) dedicated to preserving machines designed to kill.
I saw so much of this at Airventure 2011 that I could just gag! Their swaggers were even worse than the real thing at the Homeland Security/Customs booths, and the "military might" types at ConocoPhillips Square--who by the way, exhibited at least _some_ humility!
ThankYou Martha, for hitting the nail on the head. I can't tell you how many of my aviation friends feel the same way, and your column certainly has made the rounds amongst them! It's a pleasure to read you every month and wish I could have met you at the Flying tent at OSH-- but no one knew who you were (or any of the writers names, for that matter!)
