Lyon Air Museum presents the 2nd Annual Bike & Bombers event Sunday, June 9, 2013 from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM in Santa Ana, Calif. The event will be complete with a People’s Choice Bike Show, complimentary coffee and donuts, bike displays, live band, meet and greet with World War II pilots, and food and merchandise vendors.
The event will kick off Sunday morning at 10 a.m. with bike show and complimentary coffee and donuts provided by co-sponsor Triumph/Ducati of Newport Beach. Lyon Air Museum will accept people’s choice bike show participants from 10 a.m.– 11 a.m. 12 O’ Clock High Awards Ceremony sponsored by Danny Gray handcrafted motorcycle seats to follow. Lyon Air Museum will shift focus from outside the museum to inside the museum, where the People’s Choice winner will receive a Danny Gray gift certificate and photo at the controls of the museum’s B-17. Then from 12:30 p.m. – 2 p.m. Mark Wood Band will fill the hangar with music for all museum guests to enjoy.
Lyon Air Museum will provide free exclusive motorcycle parking and a discounted museum admission rate of $8 to motorcycle riders. The Bikes & Bombers event will also have food vendors, merchandise vendors, unique motorcycle displays, such as the National Hot Rod Association’s 1947 Triumph Speed Twin – Supercharged Dry Lakes Bike built by Kenny Howard, aka Von Dutch, and a “meet and greet” with Tuskegee Airman, Lieutenant Colonel Bob Friend. Ride out and join this fun filled event!
Lyon Air Museum represents the fulfillment of a dream of founder General William Lyon of William Lyon Homes, Inc., Newport Beach, Calif. He held the position of Chief of the U.S. Air Force Reserve from 1975 to 1979. His passion for aviation history and youth education is the driving force behind Lyon Air Museum. In establishing the museum, General Lyon sought to create a world-class facility that would be available to the local community and would offer educational displays to inspire young people. The museum has on exhibit some of the world’s rarest operational historic aircraft and vehicles.
