Flat Glass Mod for Robinson R44
This LCD solution for the R44 four-seater puts glass in a Robinson for the first time.

February 2009

Sagem Avionics has won FAA approval to install two flat-glass displays in the popular four-seat piston-powered Robinson R44 helicopter. The two eight-inch displays show all primary flight information (PFD) and multifunction data including engine instruments and other system functions. The display could also be used to show terrain advisory systems or enhanced vision if a camera is installed.

Sagem creates an entirely new center pedestal for the R44, so installation downtime is minimized since much of the work can be performed before the helicopter goes into the shop. Sagem believes the solid-state electronic devices it uses will be more robust and provide better dispatch reliability compared to the mechanical instruments the system replaces.
