Piper Upgrades Seneca V with G1000
Piper has selected the Garmin G1000 integrated flight deck for its Seneca V piston twin as an upgrade over the previously available G600 suite.
The G1000 system in the Seneca V includes three 10.4-inch displays integrating all primary flight information, navigation data, communications, terrain awareness, traffic, weather and engine data. The G1000 for the Seneca also incorporates a large moving map and safety enhancing features including synthetic vision technology, terrain awareness and warning system, datalink weather, Garmin’s traffic awareness and collision avoidance systems and more.
Base price for the G1000-equipped Seneca remains the same as before, at $972,400. The Seneca V still flies with an S-Tec Fifty-Five X autopilot. A change to Garmin’s GFC 700 flight control system is expected next year.
Piper now offers G1000 avionics in its M-class line of singles spanning the Meridian, Mirage and Matrix, as well as the Archer and Seminole. The Piper Arrow, meanwhile, flies with the Garmin G500 suite.
